The Algorhythm LIVING Lab is an inclusive, partnership-driven platform dedicated to revolutionizing South Africa's innovation ecosystem. With a specific focus on promoting and facilitating collaboration between researchers, entrepreneurs, innovators, and investors, we seek to address the prevalent challenges that have historically hindered the growth of our innovation landscape.
Fostering a vibrant environment that bridges the gap between industry and innovation, overcoming hurdles such as limited access to R&D funding, insufficient technical capabilities, and lack of investor interest in early-stage projects
Objectives
The Algorhythm LIVING Lab is dedicated to fostering both urban and rural economies, with a special emphasis on achieving key, impactful objectives. Our mission is to decentralize innovation, creating accessible creative hubs in rural and township areas for local youth and small businesses.
We're committed to enhancing participation of youth and graduates in the innovation and technology development ecosystem, providing them with an accessible Early-Stage Innovation Project Preparation Program.
We aim to make a substantial contribution towards increasing youth and young professionals' participation and contribution within the National System of Innovation.
Through our support and mentorship, we strive to foster a resilient entrepreneurial ecosystem that thrives in the face of adversity and continues to drive economic growth and development.

To ensure access to state-of-the-art resources, our primary lab is set to be established at an already existing innovation and Entrepreneurship Center at Sekhukhune TVET College CFERI in Motetema.

The consortium boasts of the diversity of its partners expertise and business offering, contributing to a robust and well rounded technical capability to operate and manage the project successfully. The allocated roles and responsibility are in line with each entity’s business offering and value proposition to its clients and stakeholders.
Technology Innovation Agency’s role and strategic objectives include amongst others, supporting grassroots research, development, and innovation to address challenges such as limited access to R&D funding and insufficient technical capabilities. TIA will also ensure the promotion and facilitation of collaboration between researchers, entrepreneurs, innovators, and investors to overcome historical challenges in the innovation landscape..
Technology Innovation Agency
The Centre's comprehensive service offerings include providing an Innovation Space and Makerspace to foster creative thinking and development. Additionally, the Centre facilitates the usage and hiring of specialised equipment and tools, enhancing the capacity of entrepreneurs to realise their projects. Moreover, CFERI conducts business and entrepreneurial training, providing the knowledge and skills necessary for sustainable business growth
Sekhukhune Centre for Entrepreneurship Rapid Incubator
AlgorhythmLab is an integral part of the Lab, leveraging its expertise in areas such as software engineering, electronics, mechatronics, the Internet of Things (IoT), prototyping, project management, and fundraising. It will provide comprehensive training to equip our participants with a well-rounded skill set, covering computer programming, human-computer interaction, database systems, web development, and more. Trainees will be introduced to the design of electronic circuits, microchips, sensors, and the use of microcomputers like Arduino and Raspberry Pi.

Innovation Support programme
The Living Lab leverages on the tested innovation, technology development and entrepreneurship development process and programmes which are currently being implemented by the consortium parties. The following is a high level structure of the innovation support programme and its key interventions:

Prepare / Train
We will deliver crucial skills development in areas like software and electronics engineering, Robotics and fundamentals of business.

Product design
We will we facilitate research support, solution ideation, and prototype development. We also enable co-creation, product development, and testing.

Incubate
We will provide innovators and SMMEs with mentorship and incubation opportunities relating to enterprise development, business development, patenting etc.

Accelarate
This will be a catalyst for promising high-value innovations, SMMEs, and startups, providing critical access to markets.

Commercialise
We will facilitate access to seed funding, guiding entities through every stage, from early development to full-scale commercialization.

Exit: Alumni
We will foster a strong community of entrepreneurs who will be handy in giving back to future trainees with skills, mentorship and networks
